Paul Winley Records

Founded in Harlem in the late ’50s, Paul Winley Records is a true cult label — bridging doo-wop, jazz, spoken word, and the earliest sparks of hip hop.

Known first for street-corner harmony 45s and later for the Super Disco Breaks series, Winley was among the first to press the breakbeats that DJs like Kool Herc and Bambaataa would spin into history. Every release feels raw and street-level: hand-drawn labels, uneven pressings, and all the grit that makes collectors chase original Harlem cuts.

It’s not a “clean” catalog — it’s the DNA of NYC’s underground, etched into wax.
